How To Enable Siri For Carplay

Siri – Get your task using just your voice. In the car, drive safe and CarPlay. While you focus on the road while behind the wheels you can drive safely and CarPlay. Whatever your daily chores are, Siri can do it for you on your Apple device. Just ask for it.

Working Of Siri

CarPlay is available in select cars only. CarPlay will note the tasks that you want to do on your iPhone while driving and put them on your car’s display. You can use CarPlay with your voice while you are on the go.

You can connect your iPhone to your car using Bluetooth. You may refer to the user guide that came with your car.If you want to operate Siri, you can simply press the voice command button, which is located on your car’s steering wheel itself. Once you hear the beep, you can start using it.

Ask Siri On CarPlay

You will need to do one of the following until Siri beeps:

On your steering wheel you will need to keep the voice command button pressed. Simply hold the CarPlay’s dashboard with a gentle touch for five seconds or CarPlay’s home button on the touchscreen displaying CarPlay.

Tell Siri to do something for you or ask a question. May be something like:

  • “You want to know the nearest coffee shop”
  • “Play your favorite songs”
  • “Show me the map”
  • “Where is my next meeting?”
  • “How is the weather for today?”
  • “Remind me to water the plants when back home”
  • “How many tablespoons are in one quarter cup”?

Tip: Don’t wait for Siri to notice that you have stopped talking, you can simply hold the voice command button while you are talking and then stop whenever you are done speaking.

Use Siri In Your Car

CarPlay works with the built-in features and controls. It comes with several types of controls including a touchscreen, buttons or knob. You can also refer to the owner’s guide that came with your vehicle.

Returning to the home screen. You will notice that there is either your vehicle’s logo appearing at the bottom of the screen or you may also directly click on the home icon to return.

If you want to use the previously used app, then simply click on the icon shown at the edge of the screen or you can even turn the knob and press it.

Checking all other applications is also easy as all you need to do is slide the touchscreen from the right and all the applications will appear right in front of you.

Controlling the music player on the touchscreen is also easy as you can simply use the controls placed on the dashboard itself. You can also operate from the current audio application that you are using.

Here’s How You Can Turn Off Siri

Some may find voice control a bit frustrating and distracting as well. If this is the case then you can turn off Siri. As soon as you shut down Siri on CarPlay, you will not be able to use your smartphone while driving, which can become an issue if you are using Siri for maps or messaging with voice command. However, if there is no dependency then you can shut Siri by disabling it on your iPhone first.

To turn off Siri CarPlay:

  • Open settings
  • Tap Siri & Search
  • Toggle off the application

Please know that deactivating doesn’t remove Siri, it only helps you to turn the application off. Siri is not a separate application that can be deleted or removed. It is an essential part of the operational system. This means it will not answer to your instructions while your device is being used. However, it will still route in the background.

By now you know that Siri is a voice assistant that can complete your various tasks. CarPlay permits iPhone users to regulate your phones through your vehicle’s infotainment system. Siri is one of the commonly used applications on CarPlay, so you can go hands-free and use features like maps, music, podcasts, message others and revert to calls.

While you can use some very basic features of CarPlay without using Siri, it will knowingly create boundaries in what the system can do. CarPlay requires the use of Siri because it is developed in such a way for iPhone users so that the car owners can have a safe and secure way to intermingle with their phones while on the go.
